Saint Louis Earth Day Festival offers variety, education

The newly re-vamped Saint Louis Earth Day Festival celebrates its 20th year on Sunday, April 26 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the Muny Grounds in Forest Park.

It is the oldest and largest Earth Day Festival in the Midwest. Admission is free.

“This year, we have nine neighborhoods,” Terri F. Reilly, executive director of Saint Louis Earth Day said. “They’re themed, you know, educationally themed neighborhoods. For example, the Earth Day Café Food Education Neighborhood is one of them.”

Some other neighborhoods include Energy Efficiency, Pets, and Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Reilly is also making an effort to create a fun environment for the Festival. Guests will enjoy live entertainment throughout the day from three stages, featuring acts like Javier Mendoza and “Windsor Live” by Shakespeare Festival Saint Louis.

“It’s educational, but it’s fun,” Reilly said. “I think people know that they can come and get really good, educational information, but they can make a day of it and have fun.”
