Prom pays off

On Sat. April 17 juniors and seniors dressed in their finest gowns and tuxes for the 2009 prom to make memories that will be retold for generations.

“The best part was dressing up and going out and having fun with my friends,” junior Kayla Matthews said.

Almost 600 students began filing into the St. Charles convention center at 6 p.m. and were soon served the nights’ dinner. They had a choice of Parmesan chicken, steak or vegetarian lasagna. The tables were adorned with “Venice Bliss” decor and each attendee had their own gift.
“I thought it was very pretty and I loved that we got the mugs that matched our theme perfectly,” Matthews said.
This evening was put on by the junior class and heading the event was class president Crystal Friedman. Overall most who went to prom had a wonderful time. Highlights included pictures, dancing and in some cases teacher participation on the dance floor.
“The best part was seeing how much everyone enjoyed themselves and to see something they [the delegates] worked so hard for turn out so well,” Friedman said.
The club had been working for months to put together an evening that will please all and give seniors an unforgettable last memory. Students recognized her effort and were thankful to be a part of a school that cares about the students within.
“Although it was very stressful in the beginning, it was definitely worth every second of my time and the response was amazing,” Friedman said.
