Senior Olympics wages ‘war’ on homerooms, activities

“Honey, I love you.”

This is a simple phrase seniors said today in the big gym, when the class ‘09 participated in North’s annual Senior Olympics.

All the seniors came down to the gym with their homerooms, where homeroom was assigned a number. Business teacher Mike Kenny then called homerooms down by numbers to participate in many different games like ‘You’re a lifesaver,’ ‘Hit the sack,’ ‘Bubbilicious Bonanza,’ and many more.

“[My favorite part was] watching everyone sit on the balloons and pop them,” Chris Boyer said. “It was funny.”

One teacher, Brooke Roe, was surprised when she was called down to the floor to play with her homeroom class ‘Bubbilicious Bonanza’. She and her homeroom students were challenged when they had to unwrap bubble gum in their mouth without using their hands.

After everyone had a chance to play at least one game, the winners we’re called down for the championship.

Following the championship was the main event; Tug of War. Students from different clubs and sports played against each other. The Band vs. Football, Barnwell girls vs. Hollenbeck girls, Girls volleyball vs. Boys volleyball, Choir vs. Drama, and ending was Girls basketball, Knightline, and Cheerleaders vs. Boys Basketball.

“The Tug of War is always the most fun, because everyone gets up and becomes involved,” Kenny said.

After Tug of War, the bell rang and students were released to go home.

“[I liked] the involvement,” Kenny said. “Everyone has fun together, because it’s one of the last few times they will be together as a group.”
