Hairspray provides big hair, big fun

Hairspray the musical takes place in 1962. The songs include 1960’s-style dance music and the downtown Blues.

Tracy Turnblad, the main character is a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart. Her biggest dream comes true when she wins a spot to dance on the The Corny Collins Show, the biggest show in Baltimore. When Tracy wins a role on the show, she becomes a celebrity overnight. Tracy then launches a campaign to racially integrate the show. Hairspray shows the injustices parts of American society in the 1960s.

Hairspray is a really fun, uplifting musical. It was one of the best shows I have ever seen at the Fox. It has some very funny parts, is energetic,and has a nice moral message. Hairspray shows the injustices parts of American society in the 1960s, along with history it is also a entertaining musical. If you don’t have time to go see it live a the Fox in St. Louis, I would recommend you to at least check out the movie.
