For the first time in her two years at FHN, Lorraine Smith has received a special opportunity for North’s elite choir, Knightsound. Knightsound had the honor of singing at a Mayor Breakfast on May 7


.
“We were invited by someone at the Central Office,”
Smith said. “The superintendent then sent out an email and I answered first, so we got chosen. The prayer breakfast for local politicians was a new event for us.”
Knightsound sang a medley which they have performed on three occasions, including their Atlanta competition. The song was from the musical “Guys and Dolls.” However, they sang other songs which were all a cappella, since no piano was available to them.
“I wasn’t really nervous about the breakfast,” senior Noah Ellison said. “We knew the song [well].”
Although this was their first year having a chance like this, Smith is hoping to be invited back next year.
“If they think we did good, they might invite us back,” Smith said. “I hope so because this was a really cool experience for them.”
Some members in Knightsound are taking advantage of this chance to show their singing talents to others.
“I’m looking forward to sharing our love and passion
for music with others in the future,” junior Ellen Ransom said. “It’s a lot of fun when you share something you love.”
