Runner’s injuries cause her to miss Districts

At the beginning of the track season Junior Dianna Prost had one goal: qualify for the state track meet. However periodically throughout the season, Prost came across many unusual outbreaks of itchiness.

“They said I had hives but I don’t really know,” Prost said. “It was itchy, disgusting gross, uncomfortable and I never want anyone to experience it.”
Towards the end of the season, Prost had been getting significantly slower in her races and was constantly wondering what was wrong with her.
“I was telling myself to go fast and I couldn’t physically do it,” Prost said.
“Everyone thought it was mental until I went to the doctor.”
Last week, Prost paid Dr. Harrison a visit at the doctor. When she arrived to the office, she was pricked with a needle and instantly diagnosed with Mononucleosis. Mononucleosis is a virus that breaks down your immune system. The mono would put her season to an end.
“I was ticked when I found I out I couldn’t run at districts but I was relieved that I knew what was slowing me down.” Prost said.
Later Prost paid a visit to an orthopedic doctor and she was also diagnosed with a stress fracture in her right dorsal tibia. Stress fracture’s are over pounding or over using of bones that eventually reach its breaking point.
“It feels horrible to be so broken at the end of the season, a whole season of training down the tubes!” Prost said.
Although Prost has faced many different sicknesses and injuries this season, she plans to come back and run for next year.
“My plans for next year will be to beat the crap out of everybody and redeem myself.” Prost said. “I hope everyone underestimates me next year so when I beat them they’ll feel bad.”
