K.O.E.

The Knights Of Excellence picnic was canceled on Friday due to weather forecasts calling for hail that afternoon. Monday, the big event unfolded. Despite some minor complaints from students, many think the picnic was a hit.

“I don’t really like it [on Monday] because with it on Friday it’s the last two hours of the day, then you can go home and it’s the weekend,” sophomore Jennifer Voong said.

The afternoon was filled with games and prizes, students flooded the field for fun and excitement.

“It was fabulous and it couldn’t have been any better.” K.O.E sponsor Diane Holmes said.

Games included inflatables, carnival games and a dunking booth. Prizes that were handed out ranged from small amounts of cash to a Nintendo Wii game system. Also, there was a live student band, Screaming Glory, that played at the picnic.

“The picnic took weeks and weeks of planning,” Holmes said. “It exceeded my expectations.”

Students who were allowed to miss their 6th and 7th hours to attend the picnic had to have either perfect attendance, no disciplinary reports or be on Honor Roll.

“It’s been good, I like the free time and being outside,” Voong said.

When the day ended and the picnic was over, students were able to feel good that they had been given an afternoon of from having to do work and have fun.

“I’ve heard over and over that it was a blast and that they couldn’t have had it [better].” Holmes said.
