Waking up at 6:30 a.m., I had come to the realization of what’s ahead: senior year. August 13 had come and gone before without making an impact on me, except this year. I had a feeling
the day had come to soon, summer had ended too early, and I was the big man on campus already.
I could tell you I remember my first day of high school but I don’t. I could tell you I still remember my schedule and what teachers I had but I don’t. I could tell you what I had for lunch that day but guess what? I don’t remember. All I remember about that day is thinking “finally”. Finally I was a freshman. Finally I was leaving middle school. Finally I had to step up to the plate.
But now as a senior when I think “finally”, it has a whole new meaning. Finally I’m a senior. Finally I’m making my mark. Finally I had to make a home run.
As a senior, I’ve come to realize how the same word can have a new meaning. With age comes wisdom and with wisdom comes understanding. The understanding of the word finally is the first lesson I learned senior year. And that is one lesson that five years from now, I’ll remember.
