This week, on Friday Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. FHN’s varsity football team will play Fort Zumwalt West for the conference title.


Fort Zumwalt West hasn’t lost a conference game since 2005, and FHN hasn’t defeated them since 2001. The game will be different from any home game FHN has ever seen before, because it is the first time coach’s have ever called for a ‘Blackout Game’. The varsity team has been working hard for a moment like this, and for this reason the players need support from their fans.

“A Blackout Game shows support, and team unity, thats usually what is hoped for,” Brian Warner said. “It brings about school spirit and support for the team.”

Students, teachers, parents, and anyone else attending the game have been asked to participate in the effort to support the players. Since the Blackout Game is a new event at FHN, no one knows what to expect. Sophmore Nicole Yuede is one of many planning to participate in hopes of encouraging the players.

“They [players] will probably be really pumped up with the huge crowd, and everyone in black,” Yuede said. “It will probably intimidate the other team too.”
