Cross Rock is a big hit

crossrock 60 degree weather, a 750 person turn out, and Chevy’s nachos. A perfect evening for a concert on the hill of Church of the Shepherd. Last night, many gathered to worship and sing songs of praise at the second annual Crossrock concert. This year’s concert had newer and more well known bands such as Todd Agnew, Building 429, and Kimber Rising, on the Promise Remains Tour. First stop: St. Charles, Missouri.

“Brandon Salter and I came up with this idea last year and we wanted to make it bigger this year,” Event director Kate Manfull said. “We wanted to get bigger bands [then last year] and utilize our hill. Last year we didn’t have much support so this year we took it up a notch and got our outreach on.”

Though Manfull put in a lot of hard work, she couldn’t do it all by herself. She had many volunteers helping with the event and that is what made the night so incredible for Kimber Rising’s Brianna Wilcox.

“One thing I love is everyone’s getting involved, from the adults to the youth and even the pastor,” Wilcox said, “It creates unity within the church, I love it.”

At 6:30 the concert started. Kimber Rising was up first on stage. They delivered a message that they hope will touch many.

“I have a message I have to deliver,” Wilcox said, “I try to creatively deliver that message the best I can.”

Next on stage was building 429. They began to sing. Lead singer Jason Roy bounced around on stag then talk about his trip to Nicaragua which involved a little boy became part of a program called Compassion. Through Compassion a child in a third world country’s life can change for just $35 a month.

After a tear dropping message from Roy, Todd Agnew was up. After he sang his songs and the concert was over. Many ran home to take a shower and hit the hay, but the remainder of the people still left took down the stage and cleaned up after about 4 hours of music and went home.

“This is my home away from home,” Brandon Salter of the Brandon Salter Band said. “It’s a concert where I can glorify God with the talent God gave me.”
