Cold classrooms hinder education

mailSo you’re sitting in your math class taking notes, and you stop to look up. Everyone is huddled to themselves in their seats, and some kids are wearing winter coats.

Summer just ended, and girls are already wearing theirUgg boots to school. There’s something wrong with this picture. Any student that goes to North knows that it’s ridiculously cold inside the school this time of year.

“I dress like it’s winter when it’s still summer,” junior Dani Hanners said.
What kind of a learning environment is that? People wear winter coats when it’s that cold outside. It’s understandable that it’s a big process to turn off the air or turn on the heat for the maintenance department, but it’s difficult to concentrate on learning in class when it’s so cold. And isn’t learning the whole point of going to school?

“I had a test in one of my classes the other day, and it was kinda hard to focus on because I was freezing. I actually looked that the thermostat, and it said 52 degrees. That’s just ridiculous, and not a good way to learn,” senior Nick Palmer said.
