FCCLA starts the year with a field trip

fcclasized On Monday, Oct. 12, seven of the 20 FCCLA (Family Career and Community Leaders of America) members left school at 7:15 a.m. to go to Timberland High School for the Region IV Conference. The field trip gave a little insight to what is in store for FCCLA this year.

“It was more of a motivational thing to get them more interested and involved with some of the programs they offer,” sponsor of nine years Rebecca Just said. “They had a motivational speaker. He talked about qualities of being a leader and personal characteristics. His name was Jerry Ackerman.”

The speaker motivated the FCCLA group to become more proactive within their schools.

“Considering that FCCLA is a leader kind of club where you have to make decisions, he basically told us how we should depend on ourselves to make our own decisions,” senior Ashley Boell said.

On top of interesting and motivational, Jerry Ackerman was also able to encourage FCCLA groups to enter into competitions.

“We’re planning on doing competitions this year. We want FCCLA to be more involved and get our school more out there,” Boell said.
