DECA’s efforts count for much more than pocket change

On Nov. 10, DECA organized “Change for Charity” to raise money that will be used to help FHN biology teacher, Chris Dalton.

“We went around lunches and asked people for spare change and gave it to charity,” DECA officer Kevin Taylor said.

In the end, DECA’s efforts paid off. The club raised $185.85 by simply asking for the loose change students had taking up space in their pockets. DECA sponsor Joe De Ciechi believes helping Dalton, who is currently overseas serving in Afghanistan, is a very worthy cause.

“A lot of times you just give and you don’t know who it’s going to,” De Ciechi said. “A lot of people know him, and it’s nice to put a face on the cause you’re giving to.”
