On Saturday Nov. 14 the Varsity cheerleading squad competed in the Missouri Cheerleading State Championship. It was an all day event held at Mizzou in Columbia Missouri.
“I thought that we weren’t as prepared as we should have been,” Varsity cheerleader Leilani Ballesteros said. “It was a bigger competition and we competed against more teams, but we did alright for the amount of time we had to prepare. It was a more important competition and was further then our other ones.”
For most competitions the squad’s practices can span over a couple months, but for this particular one practices were a lot shorter.
“For this one we only practiced for three weeks, three days a week and about three hours,” Ballesteros said. “It was surprising [going to state] because I don’t think we have made it to state in like three years. Most had fun but we took it more seriously”
