“Shop N Drop allows parents time to do a little Santa shopping or just spend time together,” program coordinator Pete Beck said. “At the same time, we are getting our funds to help give gifts to Becky David Families.”
During the event, students were split into age groups and sent to different areas of the school throughout the night to participate in games and activities while their parents got to go shop or just relax. This year, students enjoyed decorating candy canes and hats, playing in the bounce house and inflatable maze, drenching their teachers in a dunking booth, and even getting balloon animals. Any activity fees or donations were given to the fund to aid needy families of Becky David students.
“We do this every year because the students really enjoy themselves and the parents get to give to a good cause,” Beck said.
In order to make the night possible, teachers and other school district members volunteered to watch the kids, as well as community service groups, including NHS. A group of Senior National Honor Society members attended Shop N Drop and enjoyed interacting with the students to help them have a fun night.
“I liked seeing how much fun they had,” senior Pam Avila said. “I think it gives them a chance to be at school, but have fun doing different activities while their parents get things done.”
