You’ve probably heard from your friends or parents a lot of times before that smoking is bad for you and that you shouldn’t do it. If you have taken their advice, good. If not, that’s unfortunate because what a single cigarette does to your body is unbelievable.
On average, it is believed each cigarette costs us between 5 and 20 minutes of our lives. You might say “Well, I’m going to die sooner or later.” Why would you want to die from smoking? Unless you really don’t care about your health.
More than 400,000 deaths in the U.S. each year are from smoking-related illnesses. Smoking very much increases your risks for lung cancer and many other cancers, like emphysema, and chronic bronchitis. Not only is smoking incredibly pointless, but it is also very selfish for the people around you.
Secondhand smoke can cause premature death and diseases in children and adults who do not even smoke. Also, if you buy packs of cigarettes often, think of how much money you could be saving for something you actually need, that isn’t killing you.
