Using geometry Steve Willot’s four AP stats classes measured the height of the American flag, that hangs in the center of the commons, on Mar. 1.
The students used measuring tape, a clinometer, and basic geometry skills to complete the task, the information collected was then used to perform stats work.
“[We did it] so that we could collect data,graph data and do inferences because we had unknown height, so we had to take samples to estimate height,” Willot said.
For this being the first time that Willot tried the activity, it was successful.
“I think overall it went well it went a lot faster than I thought, ” Willot said. “It was my first time so I wasn’t sure what to expect. ”
Not only was it successful for Willot, the students enjoyed the activity as well.
” I thought it was creative way to learn,” Chelsea Cobb said. ” It was cool that we got to learn outside of the classroom.”
