This year’s Prom takes a new turn

prompreview41210This years Prom, Frozen in Time, is April 17 at the Convention Center of the Embassy Hotel. It is a little different from past proms.

“I think prom this year stays true to the theme and will be as good if not better than last years,” Junior class secretary Nicole Cuneo said.

One of the major differences this year is what is on the menu. Choices for the main course include chicken, steak, and vegetarian lasagna.

“There’s a few selections as far as food goes, so there’s a good chance everyone will get what they want,” Cuneo said.

The decorations will also be very different. What has changed the most is the lighting. There will be multicolored lights hung up on the walls.

“This year we have a lot of lighting, so the walls will be lit up blue, purple, and silver,” junior class sponsor Lori Lutz said. “The decorations will be more elaborate.”

The junior class delegates are expecting attendance to be a little higher this year then last year. The tickets are selling well and they have done a lot of advertising.

“I expect it to be a little bit high,” Lutz said. “We have early bird sales and we have sold more [tickets] at this time this year than last year.

The attendance will also be higher because some of the people who graduated last year are coming back.

“I know a lot of people who are bringing people who graduated last year back,” attending senior Melissa Alexander said.

The seniors enjoyed prom last year but also expect some changes this year.

Well since styles have changed throughout this year I expect to see a lot of different kinds of dresses and I really want the free photo booth again,” Alexander said.

The junior class delegates have been planning since around December.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone have fun and our hard work pay off,” junior class treasurer Stephanie Blanchard said.
