On April 14 there will be about 100 students being inducted into Mu Alpha Theta at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. To be inducted into Mu Alpha Theta, you must be in a math class of Algebra 2 and have a 3.0 or greater in your math classes. The officers of Mu Alpha Theta induct the new members.
“It’s a nationally recognized club and once you’re inducted it is such a big thing because on college resumes and job resumes it [the club] just looks awesome,” vice president of Mu Alpha Theta Greg Felock said.
Since the induction ceremony is such a big deal, it has several parts to it.
“We have a script that we read and then we go over the history of the club and facts about math,” secretary of Mu Alpha Theta Brittany Stanley said. “Then we have new members come up on stage and get inducted. Then we have refreshments and stuff after.”
After being inducted into Mu Alpha Theta, the new members can expect to feel accomplished.
“I think they will feel like it’s an honor because it shows that they’ve worked hard in math, which is a hard subject to excel it,” Stanley said. “It shows them a sense of pride that they have made it this far.”
