Drumline competes for WGI

drumlinecomp41910 From April 14 through April 16, Francis Howell North Drumline, consisting of around 30 members hopped on a bus for seven hours and headed to Dayton, Ohio. There they performed at the WGI World Championship competition that they had been practicing for since just before winter break.

“Basically, you warm up and perform in front of 5,000 people, and then you watch all the other teams go,” Drumline member, Michael Opich, said. “It’s amazing what people do and what can be done. It also gives us good ideas for next year.”

Each team has to try out and be put in a specific division into which they perform. North’s team placed 10 of out the 15 spots in their division.

“I thought it went amazingly, and we did very well,” Opich said. “There was definitely some tough competition.”
