12 things to fill your summer days

Maddin6221. Float Trip: Grab a cooler and a picnic lunch and head out to Meramec state park for a float trip with your friends. Only about an hour and a half away, this river provides a convenient and cheap option.

2. Get a snow cone from Tropical Sno: Located on Old 94, this popular snow cone stand has tons of flavors to chose from giving everyone something to enjoy.
3. City Museum: With a relatively new roof-top attraction, the City Museum is a must-go place. On weekends the museum is open until 2 a.m. for a late night adventure.
4. Find a summer job: What better time to make some money for the school year? Jobs are available at snagajob.com and other locally oriented websites. It is also helpful to go from place to place to pick up applications.
5. Jilly’s Cupcake Bar on Delmar: Take your pick from a large variety of flavors at this Delmar hot-spot. Prices range from $3-5 but they are believed to be at least two sources by many reviewers.
6. Volunteer: Find a local place to volunteer at that helps the community. Finding something you enjoy to do or help out will make the experience more fun and enlightening.
7. Go to a six flags out of St. Louis: Explore theme parks outside of the St.Louis area to see what they have to offer. A St. Louis Six Flags season pass, for $69.99, is valid at any operating parks which will surely save money in the long run.

8. Scavenger Hunt: Make a list of locations to stop at and get a group of 10-15 people, divided into teams. Remember to bring a camera to document each stop and to share with others after the hunt is over.

9. Learn a New Hobby: Find something you’ve always wanted to do and take these three months to start a new hobby. Some ideas include knitting, gardening, skateboarding and rock climbing.

10. Clean Your Room: During the school year our rooms take a beating from a lack of cleaning, but the summer is the perfect time to clear the clutter. Try reorganizing your closet and taking unwanted clothes, purses and shoes to Plato’s Closet for some extra money.

11. Redecorate Your Room: After you’ve cleaned your room take some time to redecorate it. Target has affordable and desirable room decor for students of all kinds.

12. Have a Fancy Night Out: Put on one of your old Homecoming dresses or shirts, get a group of friends for a fun night of bowling, dinner, put-put or a movie.
