On June 22, the St. Charles Humane Society will be hosting a dog show for the community. It will be held at DuSable Dog park in St. Charles. The purpose of this show is to raise money for the shelter. Freshman Zoe Ridenhower volunteered for this event and expresses her reasons for doing so.
“After my dog died, I wanted to give back to the humane society.” Zoe said. I’m doing this because I love what the humane society is doing, and they need some support.”
The St. Charles Humane Society is a no-kill shelter, which means the do not euthanize any animals to make room for new ones. This can increase the costs for a shelter greatly, so more money is always helpful.
“I think the dog show is good because people with similar interests can go and meet others that love dogs,” father Dave Ridenhower said.
Not only does the dog show benefit the community, but it offers a great opportunity for visitors to spend quality time with their dogs, friends, and family.
