Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen is a typical teenage love story. It’s predictable, yes, but I liked it. Along for the Ride is an easy story to lose yourself in and is very well written. I think it’s hard for authors to come up with stories that are brand new, since there are so many competitors. Sarah Dessen writes in a genre that is very full, so making plots and characters her readers can relate to but haven’t heard a thousand times over is a difficult feat. I think that Along for the Ride is simple enough to relate to, it has many characters so you’re bound to find one you can say, “Hey, that sounds like me.” Along for the Ride has a plot that on the surface seems like other things you’ve read. However, if you allow yourself to be taken in by the story, you can see the uniqueness of it.
