Unstoppable makes its mark

The movie’s title says it all: “Unstoppable”.  It’s about a train that is loose on the Pennsylvanian Railway going at full speed with nothing to stop it. It starts off with Will Colesen (Chris Pine) on his first day of work on the railway with his engineer and mentor Frank Barnes (Denzel Washington) as they set out on what seems to be a normal day of work. A train, running on the same main line as Barnes’s train. When they find out how dangerous the opposing train is, not only to them but everyone, because it is carrying cars full of a dangerous chemical that is highly explosive, making the run away train a high-speed bomb.

The movie really does have its strong moments, it has alot of explosive action, a gripping storyline, and you end up really appreciating the characters in the movie for who they are. Unlike some movies, there really isn’t a moment of emotional catharsis where the main character decides to take life-threatening risks. You see that they really are just doing there job by trying to stop this train.

The one thing that really is interesting is the movie is based off a real event in which there was an unmanned train with the same dangerous chemicals that could have potentially harmed the city of Stanton, Pennsylvania. In the movie, though, there were some exaggerated parts about some events that happened on the train that didn’t, but it’s a movie.

For anyone who wants to see a really well-directed, well-developed movie that is loaded with action, “Unstoppable” is definitely worth watching.
