Trick-or-Treat Street just around the corner

Every year, the week before Halloween, FHN hosts Trick-or-Treat Street, a safe and fun place for young children to trick-or-treat, play games and take part in activities. Trick-or-Treat Street will be taking place on Friday, October 28, from 5-7 p.m. Admission is $3 per child. Enter through the main lobby to purchase a ticket and get a photo taken, then follow the hallway by the library into the commons for games, treats, and activities.
“There’s going to be cupcake decorating, an inflatable, and each club comes up with their own games and theme,” Student Council (StuCo) President Ashlynn Laspe said.

Several clubs get their own space in the commons and decorate it with a theme. For example, StuCo’s room theme is Toy Story. This year, Trick-or-Treat Street is going to be a little different, with only two hours for kids to trick-or-treat and play.

“I think less kids will be there because it’s usually three hours, but this year it’s two because of the football game,” said Laspe.

At least 16 clubs and organizations are taking part in Trick-or-Treat Street this year, including Mu Alpha Theta, Teens Advocating Smart Choices, National Honor Society, Knights Of Excellence (KOE), Gay Straight Alliance and Junior and Senior Delegates.

“KOE is going to have a giant dinosaur inflatable,” KOE sponsor Diane Holmes said.

Although it’s recommended for younger children, Trick-or-Treat Street is awaited by many students and staff at FHN.

“I’m really looking forward to hanging out with some of my friends and making little kids happy,” KOE member Catherine House said.
