Like a big pizza pi

In all of the hustle and bustle of the Delmar loop sits one of our president’s favorite places, a pizzeria called Pi Pizza. This original restaurant opened in 2008 and gained more popularity every year.

Pi got its name because the first location was located in the 314 area code and opened on March 14 (3/14) just like the number pi (3.14). Even though it has grown outside of the metropolitan area, Pi is still a St. Louis favorite, with locations in Central West End, Kirkwood, Chesterfield and even a restaurant in Washington, D.C.

“We really push the idea of  what pizza can be,” pastry chef Jill Bieker said. “Before Pi there really wasn’t a high end pizzeria”

Pi offers a wide variety of pizza including thin crust and deep dish. They make their  pizzas from scratch everyday with their own corn meal dough and their own fresh ingredients.

“I like the Chicago style pizza,” junior Zoe Ridenhowder said. “You can’t get that at a lot of places close to home. It’s a different kind of place.”

Ridenhowder is not the only one who likes Pi Pizza. President Barack Obama deemed it the best pizza he has ever had. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Obama’s love for this delectable pizza began when Pi served an executive meal at the White House.

Not only is Pi fit for a president, but they are also known for
what they like to call their “legendary” service. The employees try their best to make Pi a fun and hospitable place to eat. Pi also tries their best to go green. All of the chairs that they have around the bar are made from recycled aluminum.

“I try to treat each and every guest that walks through the the door as if they are walking into my own home,” manager Kris Glikert said.
