The first time someone walks into senior Samantha Best’s room, the first thing they notice are the pigs. Best has been collecting piggy banks ever since she was in the seventh grade. Her desire to collect piggy banks was sparked when her sister brought her a souvenir back from Chicago.

“Since going to Chicago would interfere with school, I wasn’t allowed to go, but my sister was. She brought me back a gift, and it was a piggy bank,” Best said. “It started my collection, and I have always been fond of it.”

Best’s collection consists of many kinds of piggy banks from  family members, including her biggest contributor, her mom. Best’s favorite pig is one that instead of being round like a pig, it has a scrunched body and a big nose. Best thought it looked like a pug, so she named it Pug Pig.

“I think it’s pretty cool,” sophomore Catherine House said. “Her whole room is filled with piggy banks, and it looks pretty amazing.”
