Large Turnout Expected For Journey To Bethlehem

Journey to Bethlehem takes those who attend back in time where they will encounter Roman soldiers, angels and more. Visitors walk through different areas outside in order to make it to Bethlehem. It will take place at Harvester Christian Church this weekend, Dec. 1 and 2, and next weekend, Dec. 8 and 9. This is the church’s 21st year in a row putting on this event

“A lot of people, time and money go into this production, so the church may start doing it every other year,” senior and performer in Journey to Bethlehem Maggie Wilson said.

Building the set for this production started in the summer and the performers in the show began rehearsing their parts in the middle of November.

As with every year, they are expecting a big turnout which affects the amount of time a person could be there.

“People could be waiting in line for over an hour,” Wilson said. “But the experience itself lasts about an hour.”

Members of the church are expecting around 9,000 people each weekend. According to Wilson, Journey to Bethlehem is a one-of-a-kind Christmas production.

“It’s not your average Christmas pageant,” Wilson said. “You don’t just sit there and stare at people, you get to interact with others and be a part of it.”

For many people, this will not be their first time attending Journey to Bethlehem. They come back because they enjoy the production.

“It is very family-oriented, it’s fun to watch and join in on the experience.” senior Priscilla Canto said.

As for others, this will be their first time attending and they have heard the hype about the show.

“I’m looking forward to the sights and the music,” junior Daniel Bouck said.
