Girls Swim Season Starts off

FHN girls swim team has their first meet on Dec. 3 against Hazelwood Central and McCluer High School.

The FHN girls swim season has started up again, and their first meet takes place on Dec. 3. The girls will be competing against the Hazelwood Central and McCluer swim teams. The meet will take place at Hazelwood Central. Junior Megan Hampson believes that the girls are doing good so far but could could use more time to bond with each other, along with working to improve on their skills.

“I think we’ll do pretty good this year,” Hampson said. ”We’re going to do great at relays if we keep practicing them like we are.”

William Crow, who coaches the girls swim has a goal to finish in their GAC as high as they did last year, which was fifth place. Crow believes that as of right now, the girls still have a lot to work on, including their starts, turns and different strokes.

“We’re just becoming a team, I think we’ll win this first meet,” Crow said. “The younger girls will be getting the experience of the events and I want them to understand the procedure of the meets.”

Senior Sami Ritter looks forward to getting to know her teammates better and is hoping for a good season.

“I feel like overall, we’re doing pretty good, we just need to build up our skills more,” senior and swimmer Sami Ritter said. “I’m pretty excited to start the season off.”
