    Band Booster’s Trivia Night

Band Booster’s Trivia Night was held Jan.19 in the VFW Hall, on Old Highway 94, in order to raise money for the band organizations. The money raised reduces the funds necessary for a child who participates in one of the band programs at FHN.

“It went well all of the people and volunteers who put it togeether did a very good job,” Tom Cradick,Secretary of Band Boosters, said.

The contest was played in teams of eight working together to solve the questions. There were ten rounds with a total of 100 questions asked.29 tables were sold ,selling out the hall.According to Ted House, the President of Band Boosters, they had to turn a lot of people away.

“The venue was fine, but a little bit larger accommodations, which would make more tables possible would be nice for next year,”John Corrao, participant in the Band Boosters organization, said.

There were cash prizes rewarded to the first, second, and third place winners. The first place winners were rewarded $160.According to Cradick a lot of the winners donated the money back to Band Boosters in suppourt of the band programs. There were also raffle baskets, silent auctions for concert tickets and other events in St.Louis, and 50/50 tickets.

“Trivia nights are popular fundraisers,it’s great to get people together under one cause,” House, First Divison Circuit Judge, said.

The questions were moderately difficult and written by Barren Webber.Cradick,59, and John Corrao,52, agreed that naming the lyrics and artists of today’s modern music were the most challenging questions for them. With that said the challenge didn’t effect the mood of the contest at all. The atmosphere was very jovial and loud with friendly competition in the air according to John Corrao.

“I was sort of humbled a couple of times naming stars and lyrics, my age showed a little bit” Cradick said.

Band Booster’s Trivia Night has gone on for 10 years according to Tracy Corrao who has been involved since 2003.Hopefully the tradition will be carried out for many years to come. Some advice for next years trivia goers, from John Corroa, is to remember the fine focus of the event,be liberal with your wallet, and enjoy it;it’s a lot of fun.

“It was a great way for the parents to contribute and be involved with the band since this is one of the few ways that we can, for our kids,”John Corroa said.
