Marching for a Cause

The March for Life event took place from 12 p.m until 1:30 p.m on Jan. 25.
The March for Life event took place from 12 p.m until 1:30 p.m on Jan. 25.

On Jan. 16-27, the IMPACT youth group from the St. Charles St. Elizabeth Ann Seton church took a trip to Washington, D.C. where they marched in the 40th annual March for Life.

Aside from taking part in the March, the group also had a chance to tour the D.C. area while on their trip.

“We got to see the White House, the Lincoln Memorial and a couple of other museums,” sophomore Timmy Bries said. “My favorite part was getting to go to the National Cathedral. We all got to hold a glow stick while the lights were turned of which symbolized the light of God. It was a pretty cool thing to experience.”

The march took place on Jan. 25 on the National Mall between 7th & 9th Streets. More than 1600 people in the march were from St. Louis. 18 teenagers in the IMPACT youth group were among the walkers. 15 of them were FHN students. Senior Miranda Judd walked for the fourth year in a row.

“I realized that the march is a way to stand up for what I believe in,” Judd said. “It was cool to be there and be a part of the protest, was a good experience.”

Junior Molly Kube went to the March for her second time. She believes that the trip is a good event to attend for people who are looking to make an impact.

“It’s a really fun and different way to get involved with the cause,” Kube said. “I would recommend being in the march to people because it’s a life-changing experience.”
