Herff Jones Hosts Annual Sophomore Class Ring Ceremony

On May 17 the annual Class Ring Ceremony was held in the commons. To begin the ceremony Herff photo (1)Jones representative, Jeff Rodenberg begins by congratulating the sophomore class and then announcing the winner of the oldest class ring. Then each sophomore who purchased a ring from Herff Jones was called down in alphabetical order to receive their custom made class ring. They receive a bag with their ring in it, shook Rodenberg’s hand, and then proceeded to walk through the giant inflatable class ring.
“I enjoyed the ceremony because it was really well organized and it was well planned out,” sophomore Tiffany McBain said

In the bag along with their ring was a t-shirt, a miniature ring with their graduating year on it, a box to hold their ring in the shape of a graduation cap, and a ring pop. After each student is given their bag they are released table by table to eat a Mcdonald’s breakfast that has been provided to all of them.
“The best part of the ceremony was the plethora of free food,” sophomore Jack Boden said.

After ordering their rings in February many students were excited to finally get the rings they had been waiting for. Students were able to choose from a variety of styles, stones, and symbols to put on their rings to express who they are and what their high school life is like.

“I got a ring so I would have something to remember the fun times I had in high school,” Boden said. “It’s a great way to express your individuality.”

Many students also got rings to express the love they have for their school or in order to keep the tradition going in their families.

“I decided to get a ring because it lasts a lifetime,” sophomore class delegates secretary Lexi Wilkinson said. “You can pass it down to your family members and share the tradition.”
