If I gave you a checklist of things to keep in mind during high school, it would include the following: Hang out with who you please, participate in any activities you want, love yourself and your friends fearlessly and take the risk you wouldn’t dare have taken not even a year ago.
There’s a reason behind all of these; they’re all huge factors of your happiness. As I enter my senior year of high school, I’ve learned one of the most important components of survival is simply happiness. Take the time to find who you are–I can’t stress that enough. It’s cliche, but believe it or not, you’ll find yourself changed when facing your senior year; I entered as this reluctant, intimidated girl, and now I’m leaving as the intimidator, never leaving my voice unheard. When you find yourself changing so drastically, it’s easier to understand what it takes to make you happy. Forget drama.
Your peers don’t care about what their ex said about them last week, or how you dress, or what clubs you’re in. None of the things your life revolved around in middle school matters anymore. Everyone’s worried about themselves at this point in their life, and the best advice I can give you is to do the same. High school is a life changer, but you’re the deciding factor if it’s for better or worse.
