Although the Girl’s Golf team lost to Timberland last year, they haven’ t given up.
During the off-season they didn’t practice as a team but some went out on their own to hit at the driving range or took some private lessons to improve their golf game. The team hopes that this extra practice will prove handy this season.
“We all have our own individual goals. Mine is to get my score down to a 50, but as a team our goal is to be getting into the Detroit Tournament,” Senior Tiffany Metts said.
Metts believes that one of the team’s strengths last season was that there was good communication between them. Since golf is a more individual sport and everyone is competing against everyone Metts was surprised that there were no arguments.
Metts likes golf for multiple reasons. “You don’t really have to be super athletic to play, it’s more of like a mental strategy,” she said. “I like that.”
The Varsity Girls Golf team will open up the season against Timberland on Sept. 4 at 3:30 p.m. at Bogey Hills Country Club.
