project. Students had to use all the skills they have learned so far this year and apply them to create a fun, creative restaurant menu.

“So far, this has been my favorite project,” Kelly Braudis, junior at FHN said. “It was fun, and we got to be creative while doing it.”

Students were given a scoring guide which listed out requirements in each of the following categories: organization, features, content, graphics, grammar/spelling, originality, and professionalism.  Before actually getting on a computer, students had to fill out a paper about their restaurant. The paper had to list their food, with a clever name that had to do with their theme, and its price.

“Coming up with a theme had to be the most challenging part of this project,” Sean Clark, sophomore at FHN said. “It took about two days just to come up with food items that went with your theme.”

Students did their project on a computer program called InDesign. Students could be as creative as they pleased but had some requirements, such as a boarder and no more than two colors. Students had to apply their skills in InDesign by placing graphics, setting margins, downloading fonts, and the use of color schemes. In the end, students came up with some very creative ideas including New York Cafe, Basic Bistro, and One Direction Diner.

“I love this project because its fun to see what creative ideas the students came up with and how they applied their knowledge,” Winship said.
