FBLA Members Stay Positive After Cancelled Event

Members of FBLA were planning to have a meeting with other Howell and Central FBLA members on Oct. 25 at Francis Howell Central. Members were later disappointed to find out that it would no longer be taking place due to low student

participation.

FBLA organized to have a social with the two other high schools in the district and play kickball. The social was planned to take place at FHC at 3:30 and would have cost $5 and would have included pizza. Due to low participation from students from each school, the social was cancelled.

“We would have mixed up all the students into different teams and it would have been nice for us to network with the other members from the other schools,” FBLA president Autumn Lavezzi said. “It would have got everyone to get outside their comfort zone and talk to people they don’t know, which is a major part in business.”

FBLA is still working hard for their upcoming events, including their annual New York trip over spring break. Members have been raising money by selling pizzas and are thinking about selling FHN clothing to help fund the trip. Students’ parents are also pitching in by working one of two available shifts at the Family Arena’s concession stand. According to Vice President Brittany Frazier, the trip will greatly help members to get a glimpse of what business life is like.

“I want members to learn about business stuff, and I honestly hope it helps them figure out what they want to do when they’re older,” Frazier said.

With the social being cancelled, some members of FBLA were discouraged but are staying positive and getting right back to working towards the goals of the club and composing their upcoming events.

“It’s not that big of deal, there will be more opportunities,” Frazier said.
