Cross Country One Step Away From State

Cross+Country+One+Step+Away+From+State

On Sept. 26 the Cross Country team ran districts at Mcnair Park. There were three different races with 11 different team.The Varsity boys took third place with a score of 98.

The Varsity Girls also took third place with an overall team score of 122. They both made it to sectionals.

“I stay back take the first mile at a regular pace pick off people and try to pass my teammates to push harder,” said Senior Ean Thielbar.

The guys team led by Thielbar who came in seventeenth place with a time of 17:18:83, senior Brandon Chac who came in eighteenth with a time of 17:18:95, junior Gregory Criswell who finished nineteenth with a time of 17:19:27, and sophomore Chase Powelson who finished twentieth with a time of 17:19:28.

“It felt great not as good of a feel as sending the team to state next week,” Chac said.

The girls team led by junior, Ariel Kirkpatrick who came in tenth place with a time of 20:16:80 and senior Jillian Fields who came in nineteenth with a time of 20:45:19.

“I was very pleased with their results as well; they ran a very good race,” Brocksmith said.

Sectionals will be held Nov. 2 at Blackburn Park in Webster Groves. The top 30 runners and top four teams will advance to state.

“Going to sectionals is phenomenal as a coach,” Brocksmith said. “I don’t think you can ask for anything more.”
