FHN Marching Band Competes at FHHS

This past weekend, the FHN marching band, Knight Pride, had their final competition of the season at Francis Howell High School for the 33 annual Francis Howell Marching Invitational. They placed second in their division for preliminaries and fifth overall. Members of the band have cited this performance as their best yet, as they had nothing to hold in and they were able to let everything go.

“I feel like it was one of our best performances yet,” Battery Section Leader Jacob Lesinski said. “We didn’t have to worry about doing anything else, it was our last time, our last chance.”

Although the season draws to an end, the band is still optimistic to do better next season. This past season, they’ve racked up plenty of awards, including a first place and several caption awards, and according to members of the band, they’re hoping that willl transfer over into next season.

“Even though I’m not going to be a part of the band next season, I’m still hoping that they’ll do as well as they did this year, hopefully better.” senior band member Chris Steimel  said.

With this being the final performance of the season, the seniors will be saying farewell to marching band. Although the band will be losing around 15 seniors, they are hoping that they can recover that and make up some of their losses and then some.

“I think we’ll gain a lot more freshmen now with Moorman’s [the band’s director] new job as assistant band director at the middle school.” Savala said. “He’ll probably help bring in a lot more freshmen.”
