FHN Film Club Meets Friday Nov. 8

Friday, Nov. 8, will be Film Club’s third meeting. During this meeting, senior and president Dan Stewart and members will be discussing their second round of movies they’ll be watching, and what to expect out of them.

Those movies are: “Last of the Mohicans,” “Pulp Fiction,” “The Truman Show,” and “Stargate.” The first round of the movies the club watched were: “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” “Drive,” “Memento,” and “Lost in Translation.” Each month the club has a round of four different movies they watch. Then members discuss what they thought of the movies at their meetings that they have once a month. Each person can choose to watch whichever movie they want, or even all of them.

“I’m looking forward to hearing people tell me that they have found something they love, ” Stewart said ” Hearing somebody say they really enjoy something because of this club .”

Stewart started Film Club with help of journalism teacher Aaron Manfull, who is sponsoring the club.

“I wanted to start a club for people who like to watch movies,” Stewart said ” First as a sort of college credit thing, but then also because I wanted to get people to broaden their horizon.”

According to Stewart, he hopes the club will become popular. He wants a big group of people to show up, and he just simply wants people to enjoy the meetings and the club.

“I’m looking forward to seeing movies I’ve never heard of,” senior Matt Schneider said ” And getting the chance to discuss them with other people.”

This year is the first year for Film Club, and Stewart’s first year managing it.

“A perfect meeting me to me would have to be a lot of people, and they were all able to talk about how seeing theses films made them feel and how much they did or didn’t enjoy them,” Stewart said ” And being able to communicate how they thought, and being able to have some intelligent discussions with a lot of people.”
