FBLA Sponsors Dime Wars

From Nov. 18 through Nov. 26, FBLA will be hosting a Dime War in all of the business classes to help raise money. All of the proceeds collected throughout the fundraiser will go to the March of Dimes Charity, a charity that assists babies born with defects.

“The charity is already affiliated with FBLA and we wanted to keep supporting it because it’s a good cause,” Secretary Clayton Kohler said.

With no particular money goal set for the fundraiser, FBLA is just hoping to raise as much money as they can. According to Kohler, one of their main goals was to get word out about the charity and spread awareness.

“Students will get the satisfactory of being able to help a great cause,” Vice-President Brittany Frazier said. “Being able to write a check to March of Dimes from FHN FBLA will feel amazing.”

To make the fundraiser more interesting, FBLA turned it into a friendly competition between classes. Each business class will have four class color buckets in the classroom. Students will want to place dimes into their grade’s bucket. To prevent other classes from winning, students can also place other change, everything except dimes, in the other class’ buckets. Once all the money in the buckets from each class is totaled up, the grade with the most amount of dimes and the least amount of other change wins.

“It is a unique fundraiser because the classes get to compete against each other in an effort to raise money for March of Dimes,” sponsor Angie Winship said.

Once all money is counted and a winner is chosen, the winners will receive a “We Won” sticker and “bragging rights” against the classes. Students don’t have to be in a business class to participate. Students can stop by any business class and donate money to help the cause.
