FHN Guard Returns with a Win

After an amazing season last year, including placing 13th in the world, FHN guard has begun another season in a great way.

“It wasn’t my best performance, but I didn’t drop anything,” junior guard member Sidney Sheridan said. “I fixed everything I messed up in warm up.”

This past weekend, FHN guard competed at Eureka High School and received a 68, which is eight points higher than what they were hoping for. Since the guard is the only guard in their division in Missouri, they are focused on preparing themselves for their out of state regional competitions.

“We don’t have much competition in our local circuit, but when we go to the regionals out of state I think we will be very close compared to our competition,” sophomore Mackenzie Schlogl said.

Since the guard is coming off of such a big win from last year, they have high hopes for this season. They hope to encourage the new people to want to win and to love what they do as much as the veterans do.

“I think some [new people] really stepped-up and proved how good they really are, but some let the nerves get the best of them,” Sheridan said.

Next weekend, the guard will compete in Smithville, IL, where they hope to continue to improve and to do better.

“These next couple weeks we will be working on consistency and a lot of performance as long as we keep that up, we should be where we want to be,” Mackenzie Schlogl said.
