1-30 Snowcoming Pep Assembly [photo gallery]

On Thursday, Jan. 30, FHN students and staff gathered in the big gym for the Snowcoming pep assembly. The theme of the assembly was an Olympics theme because the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, begin in 8 days. Games would be played throughout the assembly, and points would be given to the winning class. The class with the most points at the end of the assembly would be named winner.

After the National Anthem was sung by Knightsound, the parade of athletes began. First up were all levels of boys and girls basketball. The first game was then played, which was a free throw competition between upperclassmen and lowerclassmen. After the competitors spun around a bat to throw off their coordination, each person would have 30 seconds to make as many free throws as possible. Upperclassmen won, and points were added to their score. Next up were routines performed by all levels of cheerleaders, followed by JV Knightline, with varsity Knightline performing last.

Following the performances, the next game was played. This time, the seniors teamed up with the freshmen class, while the sophomore and junior classes teamed up. The game this time was to use teamwork to weave a hula hoop from one person in the line to the next. The first team to get the hula hoop from the starting person, and then down to the end and back without disconnected their arms would win. Seniors and freshmen won, and points were added to their scores.

Next , the Snowcoming courts were announced for each class. Two boys and two girls were announced for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. Seniors had three boys and three girls announced. Following the courts being announced, members of Drama Club, Stone Birkner, Logan Coombs, Tyler Masters, and Collin Witte performed a skit showing what not to do at the Snowcoming dance this Saturday.

Lastly, JV and varsity Knightline performed once again. This time, showing off the dance routines they will be performing this weekend at nationals in Orlando. (photos by matt krieg, alyssa savage, ashleigh jenkins, cameron mccarty, sammie savala, and abby temper)
