Freshmen Take the Composite Test

On April 23, the freshman class took the composite test. The test is like a practice ACT for freshman to take so that they can get a

feel for how the actual ACT is. The freshman took the test in homeroom while the Juniors were taking their ACT, and it lasted from about 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

“It was super boring,” freshman Rachel Arena said. “I don’t understand why we even had to take it because it’s two years away, and if we wanted to take it early to get practice, we get the option to do that as a sophomore, so I just don’t understand why we had to take it at school without getting the option of if we wanted to or not.”

While sophomores and seniors got the chance to leave their homeroom to go to different guest speakers in the gym, the freshman stayed in their homerooms to take the composite test, went to lunch, and then went to their 7th hour for about 45 minutes.

“A bunch of my friends called in ‘sick’ that day because we were going to be in homeroom all day and they didn’t want to be bored,” freshman Hanna Wilson said. “Honestly, even though we had to take the test, it was kind of nice being in homeroom practically all day not having to do school work, besides the test obviously, and just getting to hang out with some friends. I feel like it was way better than if I were to skip and sit at home bored all day.”

Some of the freshman who didn’t come to school said that they thought it was boring sitting at home all day by themselves, but others said they had a good time just staying at home and relaxing.

“I didn’t go to school and it was so boring,” freshman Ryanne O’Donnell said. “It would have been fine if I was able to drive, I guess, but since I can’t I kind of just stayed at home and didn’t do anything. I think next time something like this happens I’ll just go to school so I’m not as bored.”
