and Dawn Hahn both teach this new class.

“I really like it, it’s amazing,” Riffee said.

The class used Anna Garcia, the dummy in the crime scene, to try and figure out cause of death and if anyone else was involved in the crime. The possible way she could have died are homicide, by accident, or by a natural death.

“With all the information we gather from the crime scene and various other sources we can start putting together theories, and find out if Anna Garcia’s death was the result of a homicide, accident, or natural causes.” Junior Bailey Marek said.

The students used the crime scene for the past three days, but can still go out and take measurements and record data until the scene is taken down. According to Riffee, this crime scene investigation sets the groundwork for what the classes will be doing the entire semester. Students will also be doing a lot more projects like this throughout the year.

“This is a great way to help students figure out if they want to be a crime scene investigator and all the fields that pertain to it, ” MacKenzie Laurent said.
