preserve their perfect record against the Panthers.

“There top couple of players are pretty decent but I think we can still win,” junior Emily Wilson said.

The Knights beat the Panthers last year eight games to zero and look to repeat that result again. This years team is once again led by Risa Takenaka and her sister Yuri Takenaka. They are ranked, respectively, one and two on the team. The teams hope is to send them and as many players as possible to state this year.

“We definitely want to win GACs this year and send at least a couple of people to state,” Wilson said.

The team is on track to taking the conference again this year. They have already beaten rival Francis Howell, and got first place in the FHC doubles tournament. These are the first of many steps towards bringing home a conference title. They still have to play FHC, Timberland and Holt. After those matches they play in the GAC tournament to determine who is the conference champion.

After this season the team hopes to maintain their impressive record. This happens normally by freshman and sophomores playing on JV to hone their skills until they move up to varsity. Of course there are exceptions to the rules like Takenaka and Wilson who both started were playing at the varsity level prior to their junior year when most players start playing varsity. This year the team has many new freshman that the team hopes will carry on the winning tradition.

“I think this year we are mentally stronger and with alot of good new freshman,” said Wilson.

The team this year is looking to go undefeated, again this season.
