overall. Compared to last year’s THS competition, they set the bar higher than they ever have in previous years. They attended their second competition on Sept. 20 at St. Charles West High School. They placed first in their division and second overall. Setting the bar so high means Knightpride will have to give it their all at this weekend’s competition.

“I have a strong gut feeling the Knightpride Marching Band is going to do great this weekend,” band director Paul Ahlemeyer said. “The students have worked really hard in the last couple of weeks and the amount of progress is impressive.  The band is set up for great success.”

At this week’s competition at Fort Zumwalt North, they face some of the biggest bands in the St. Louis area, such as Lindbergh High School, Rockwood High School and Francis Howell High School.

“Lindbergh is the biggest band we have faced so far,” freshmen saxophone Emily Hardin said.

Being “Trapped” by so many big bands will be a challenge for the Knightpride marching band. While at this week’s competition they hope to come home with at least a 2nd place trophy in overall competition. The marching band would like to take first in their division.

“I feel they can be in the top third or even place 2nd to one of the best bands in the Midwest, St. Louis area,” band director Jeff Moorman said.
