Birds, boys, big guns, bang drums, bellhops, and Barney Stinson are just a few of the big things that made the Oscars so great Sunday night.  With triple threat Neil Patrick Harris opening the show with an amazing opening number with cameos by both Anna Kendrick and Jack Black really warmed the crowd up for the rest of the show.

The show included amazing performances by Lady Gaga, Adam Levine, Tim Mcgraw, The Lonely Island, and a very deep and intense performance of best original song award Glory by John Legend. Ending the show with a magic trick performed by NPH. Which was no surprise knowing his love for magic and illusions. Pizza was not ordered this year but lego oscars were given out. Not to mention reuniting John Travolta and Idina Menzel after he butchered her name last year.

Then the awards. Tons and tons of awards. Lets start  with the technical awards Grand Budapest swept the competition with Best costume design, best makeup, best original score, and best production design. Whiplash Coming in with best sound mixing and best film editing. Interstellar  winning best visual effects, and American Sniper taking only one win that night best sound editing. That part of the night was where Birdman won it’s first of many awards, starting with best cinematography.

Next the acting awards. With best supporting actor very underrated actor JK Simmons won the award for his very vulgar and aggressive charter in Whiplash as the Colleges Band Director. While Boyhood may have not won all the awards it wanted to, Patricia Arquette took home the award for best supporting actress for her role as the single mother in Boyhood. Then came best actor which was given to Eddie Redmayne for his role as Stephan Hawking in The Theory of Everything. Which will pave his way into the acting world for him being such a new actor just the same as it did for Jared Leto The year before. Now best actress was given to a much older and experience actress unlike best actor. It was given to Julianne Moore for her role in Still Alice where she played a woman undergoing althstimers. 

Lastly the big film awards. With Disney Coming back from their loss to dreamworks last year. Big hero 6 wins best animated film with the animated short at the beginning of the fil called Feast also winning best animated short film. The Imitation game wins best writing adapted screenplay. Finally to end the night Birdman come in to win big with best original screenplay, best director, and over all best picture. Making Birdman the real winners of the whole night.
