IMG_0391 (1)Dylan Johnson

Senior Dylan Johnson has competed on the FHN knights wrestling team for two years and will be wrestling in 182 pound weight class division

What is your best wrestling move?

Duck under, because it’s a great way to get the initial takedown in a match.

What’s your favorite wrestling move?

Double leg snatch, it uses a lot of upper body strength.

Could you describe your toughest match?

“My toughest match was probably my first match my freshman year against a junior from Troy.”

What’s difficult about being a wrestler?

“Wrestling is a very demanding sport that requires a lot of time and effort from yourself the hardest part is the daily conditioning.”

What is the best part about wrestling?

“The best part is being on a team and working together to improve yourself as a wrestler.”

What are you expecting this season?

“This season will be interesting because our old coach has retired.”

Who has been your toughest opponent on the team?

“My toughest opponent is definitely Caleb Bell. He’s a very determined person so when you face off against him he doesn’t give up until he wins.”

Chad Hayes

Senior Chad Hayes has devoted four years to wrestling and hopes that this year will begin strong and end great

What is your weight class?

145 weight class

What is your best wrestling move?

“Left handed head and arm because it catches people off guard as most people are right handed.”

What’s your favorite wrestling move?

“The Reaper, because it looks really cool.”

Could you describe your toughest match?

“Most of them are tough. My toughest win was at GAC’s freshman year I was losing in points, and then won in with a pin down in the third round with only two seconds left.”

What’s difficult about being a wrestler?

“I workout everyday except Wednesdays. I try to run sometimes as well. The toughest thing for me is the mental part, overthinking.”

What is the best part about wrestling?

“It’s obviously winning but also the best part is pushing yourself and doing things you didn’t know you could do.”

What are you expecting this season?

“It’s going to be a great year, we have a lot of great wrestlers and a great coach. This is definitely a year for the FHN wrestling team.”

Anthony Wotawa

Senior Anthony Wotawa is in the 145 pound weight class and is known for using the single leg takedown on his opponents.

How long have you been wrestling?

“This is my fourth year wrestling for FHN and I’ve wrestled for two years for the County Elite freestyle wrestling team.”

What is your weight class?

145 weight class

What is your best wrestling move?

“The single leg takedown is my best move. I have gotten 90% of my opponents with this move.”

What’s your favorite wrestling move?

“My favorite move is the Ripcord series, not many people use this move . When I use this move it’s harder for them to defend against me. This move applies a lot of pressure on a very uncomfortable place between your legs.”

Could you describe your toughest match?

“My toughest match was against Troy at Districts. The guy was stronger than me but didn’t detour me from winning. We went all three periods, after the second period it was 3-0, I was winning. I had to go on the defensive and throughout all the third he just kept on taking a shot at me defending against him. I won 3-0.”

What’s difficult about being a wrestler?

“What makes wrestling difficult is the mental aspect. In a wrestling match working through the strategic moves, overcoming the physical pain as it occurs and being an individual sport, the mental aspects are greater than anything else.”

What is the best part about wrestling?

“The best part of wrestling is when the referee raises your hand in front of the crowd. That’s what they do after you win.”
