The Francis Howell Force rugby team has a game on Saturday, March 12. They are against CBC, at CBC. They practiced two days a week to prepare for the game.

“I think the team’s going to do way better than last year,” Chris Aiello said. “We have an actual chance since there are some guys coming back from last year.”

The rugby team is a district-wide team. People from FHN, FHHS, FHC, Wentzville-Liberty and Orchard Farm play on the team. They have practice from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday.

“Since the season just started, I feel like we’re all looking forward to getting to know each other and play with each other and have games and win together,” Floris Kruger said.

They are working on passing, tackling and running lines. The key point that Trevor Locke, the coach, is teaching them is what to do in what situation. The most important thing he is working on is being a good player.

“It’s going to be a tough uphill battle for us, being that we are a lot of new fresh players to the game playing against teams that are well established for the last 10 or 15 years,” Locke said. “It will be a challenge for us, but I believe with the athletes on our team and how excited they are and what we’re teaching them in practices- I think they’ll stay competitive in games.”

The team is looking forward to winning and having fun. They want to make sure that they progress and work together as a unit so they can have a good season.

“I think they’re all chomping to the bits to get out and see what it’s like to play against kids from other schools,” Locke said.
