On Tuesday Sept. 6, the JV boys soccer team set out for what they thought was going to be an intense and hard-fought game against FHC Spartans.

“Coming into the game, I was nervous because playing Central is always a heated and hard game,” junior Alex Baker, “and for the first half I was a little worried, but after the second half started and we scored our first goal, I knew we had it and we did.”

The game ended in a 3-0 win with the Knights winning. All three goals were scored in the second half. One goal made the crowd go crazy, it was a goal to remember with nine minutes left in the half.

“The play all started when the winger marking me was all the way on the other side of the field,” junior Taylor Elzein said, “then Joel got the ball in the center and I knew right then I could make a perfect run as an unmarked man, and so I did and he played a great ball to me and I settled with a stride and sprinted to the corner and hit the ball mid bounce into the air to the PK area and Trevor was waiting there for the ball, and he one timed it out of the air right into the top of the net.”

Leaving this game, Mickey Asega stated that he knew that the team made coach Mark Olwig proud. With another win for the JV Knights, their record is now 2-0. With their next game quickly approaching on Sept. 8, the team has a few things to work on that they learned from this game.

“The boys played a good game today,” Austin Shariff, “we need to work on spacing and having a good attack.”
